Strike Promotions lodges police report over viral brawl
Strike Promotions, a local sports promotion company specialising in combat sports events, lodged a police report over an unwarranted brawl during STRIKE: Battle of Pride, Brunei’s first amateur K-1 kickboxing and boxing tournament.
The altercation caused the tournament to be cancelled last Sunday, as video footage of the incident was made viral on social media. Strike Promotions stated on their social media that an outsider came to the tournament and assaulted an individual during the competition.
Though the incident was handled quickly and the event resumed, Strike Promotions was advised to cancel the second day of the event.
Co-founder Firdausi Zainidi stated that he was disappointed as the hard work and efforts of those who were involved with the tournament were for naught due to the incident.
The police has warned that it is an offence under Section 159 (Affray) of the Penal Code Chapter 22 to cause public disturbance through unwarranted brawls that can carry an imprisonment term of up to three years and a fine.
