Brunei December Festival 2018 Appreciation Ceremony hosted by Tourism Board
On 31st December, 2018, an appreciation ceremony was held for the Brunei December Festival 2018 at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. The event was held to thank the festival’s event organisers and strategic partners for their contributions and support during the month-long festivities.
Present as the Guest of Honour was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali Bin Apong, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. In attendance were strategic partners, event organisers, members of the diplomatic corps and media representatives. The event started with a recitation of Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.
The minister was then invited up on stage by Awang Wardi Bin Haji Mohammad Ali, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) to deliver his speech. In his speech, the minister thanked all those involved in making Brunei December Festival 2018 a huge success. “In September this year, Brunei has seen a 5.9% increase in tourists compared to September last year,” the minister stated, emphasising that the Brunei December Festival has the potential to be Brunei’s signature festival and thus encouraging tourists as well as locals to spend their December holidays in the Sultanate. “We hope that all organisers will stay imaginative and creative for next year’s Brunei December Festival,” the minister said.
The event then proceeded with a certificate presentation. Awang Wardi Bin Haji Mohammad Ali presented the certificates of appreciation to strategic partners. This was followed by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali Bin Apong presenting certificates of appreciation to all the event organisers.
The appreciation ceremony then concluded with performances and light refreshments.
