Alpha Challenge 2021
Do you have what it takes to be among the Alphas? Over 1800 action enthusiasts took part in the Sentinel Challenge on Sunday 25 July, the first in the Alpha Challenge 2021: Tri-Pha series of obstacle races designed to test your physical endurance at Taman Rekreasi Jalan Menteri Besar.
Organised by D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, this year’s Alpha Challenge raise the bar to the next level by featuring 3 separate events spaced throughout the year. Participants will face various obstacles constructed along the challenge, and participants must attempt to conquer all obstacles to be termed an “Alpha”.
Kicking off the action was Sunday’s Sentinel Challenge; which features a 3KM fun run and a 5KM Sentinel Sprint with 15 obstacles. Besides the obvious bragging rights, the highlight for the contenders were the varied obstacles such as the 5ft wall, inverted wall, and rope traverse that had to be conquered to proceed. The first of the series, Sentinel Challenge drew action junkies from various age ranges. The youngest individual participant was 16 while the oldest participant was 75 years old proving that age is merely a state of mind!
While there were no competition rankings, the Sentinel Challenge offered a promising look into what’s coming next. The next event in the series, the Beta Challenge, introduces competition rankings, features a 10KM race with 18 obstacles, and is planned for October. The final event of the series, the Alpha Challenge, features a 21KM race, a whopping 21 obstacles, and is planned for December at the end of this year.
