World Cup Weekend comes to a close
The closing ceremony for the World Cup Weekend was held last Sunday at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club.
Present as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka HajiAbidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Yang Mulia Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) and Mr Howard Leong, the General Manager of Sejalin Enterprise Sdn Bhd were also present as honorary guests.
The ceremony started with a video presentation about the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and closing remarks by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Mr Vladlen Semivolos. This was followed by closing remarks by the founder of Game On Business Management and Services, Amar Dini Agus Din.
Following the closing ceremony was a cake cutting ceremony and the presentation of tokens of appreciation. There was then an exhibition match of FIFA between the Minister and Russian Ambassador.
The winners of the FIFA E-Tournament received their prizes from the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Russian Ambassador. First place went to Habib Adnan, with Ameruddin Shah and Duan Mansor placing second and third respectively.
During the weekend-long event, the Russian Embassy hosted a photo exhibition related to the FIFA World cup in Russia and displaying cultural handicrafts and artworks. There were also numerous food vendors invited by The Collective. There was also the FIFA E-Tournament organised by Game On.
The event was co-organised by The Russian Embassy of Brunei, Royal Brunei Recreation Club and The Collective to commemorate this year’s FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia.
